Frilled Lizard
(Chlamydosaurus kingii
)

A classic Australian icon of the outback, the frilled lizard lives in woodlands and forests of northern Australia. The frill is erected in a spectacular display when the lizard feels threatened, and may measure up to 30 cm across. Most of the time the frill is folded over the shoulders and back, and helps to cool the lizard and camouflage it.
